Easy Tips to Find Your Cabin While on The Ship

Finding your cruise ship cabin sounds easy, huh? You’ve studied the deck maps and think you know right where to go, right? Be prepared! Even the most experienced cruisers can get lost finding their cabin!

For safety, your cabin number is not on your sail and sign card. All of the doors and hallways look the same! So it gets pretty confusing.

Tips for finding your cruise ship cabin!

  • On most cruise ships, even-numbered cabins are typically on the starboard (right) side of the ship. Odd-numbered cabins are on the port (left) side. However, there are exceptions. Royal Caribbean and Disney ships use even numbers for outside cabins. They use odd numbers for inside cabins, regardless of side.
  • Tie a ribbon on the “mailbox” outside of your door.
  • Put a colored post-it note on the wall or door of your cabin.
  • Decorate your door. They are magnetic so it’s easy to put on a few magnetic decorations!

I like to make a door sign for my clients. It’s one they can attach with magnets. It’s a fun way to find your cabin!

Follow your kids…they seem to find their way around the ship very quickly!

Getting “turned around” on a cruise ship is very common. Just pay attention to the many signs on the walls and take your time. I like to use the same bank of elevators for the first day or two. Relax and enjoy the journey!
