Watching Football While On A Cruise

Football season is here!
Don’t worry, you can still catch the games on your cruise!

Yes, Carnival Cruise Line shows select NFL and college games on their ships during the season.

However, the exact games and locations vary by ship and schedule. You can typically watch games in sports bars, breweries, the casino or on the ship’s large outdoor screens.

However, you cannot watch them in your cabin.

How to find the games on a Carnival ship:

Check the Carnival Hub App: The app will provide the schedule for games. It will also list the specific public venues on your ship where they will be shown.

Look at the daily Fun Times activities schedule: This printed or digital schedule lists events. It also includes the locations for NFL broadcasts.

Ask at Guest Services: If you can’t find the information in the Hub App, consult the schedule. If you’re still unsure, ask a crew member at Guest Services.

Where games are shown:

  • Sports bars and breweries: Many ships have sports bars or pubs. Examples include the Hero’s or the Pig & Anchor Smokehouse. These venues serve as primary viewing locations for selected games.
  • Outdoor screens: If a ship has a Seaside Theater or similar large outdoor screen, games may be broadcast there.
  • Casino bars and lobbies:On some ships, you might also find games playing in casino bars or other central public areas.

REMINDERS

Not all games are shown: Carnival shows select games. It does not show every single one. Therefore, your specific team’s game may not be available.

Games are not in cabins: You will not be able to watch games in your guest stateroom.

Crowds: Viewing areas can get very crowded, so it’s a good idea to arrive early to secure a seat.

International feed: The game broadcast is often an international feed. This means you won’t see the same commercials as you would in the United States.

We have cruised a lot during football season. I found that the ships often featured the local departure port NFL teams during our cruise. When cruising out of Galveston we often wore our Texans shirts on Sunday for embarkation!

We have also cruised on Super Bowl Sunday! It’s a lot of fun, especially if your favorite team is playing! We were cruising out of Long Beach on the Panorama during the 49’ers vs the KC Chiefs game. The crowd was definitely Niner fans. We were way outnumbered as KC fans. It was a tense game but KC pulled it off! Yes, we cheered very loud! But everyone was very good-natured.

Plan a group cruise for Super Bowl and you won’t have to cook or clean up!

Here’s a group just for new cruisers and others! No judgment with correct answers to your questions. Lots of in-depth information, tips and personal advice!
