CARRY ON – What should you pack in your carry on?

(This info is for guests who check most of their luggage with the porters. Which I do.)
Getting onto the ship is usually a pretty long walk. You might also have times standing in waiting lines. That’s why I use a small wheeled suitcase so I don’t have to carry a heavy bag. I use this for my soda and the other things I want to keep with me. I don’t bother carrying a purse or even a backpack at this time.
Less is more but there are a few things you MUST “carry on” with you.
Items that are required to be carried onboard with you are:
- Boarding Pass
- Documents to prove your identity. Passport or birth certificate and government issued photo ID
- Canned soda/water/juice – 12, 12 oz CANS per person (if allowed by your cruise line)
- Wine or champagne – 1 – 750 ml bottle per adult (if allowed by your cruise line)
- Medical devices like your CPAP machine
Items that are recommended by experienced cruisers:
- Cash and any valuables
- Prescriptions and medications
- Electronics
- Important toiletries
- Lanyard for your sail & sign card
- Swimwear or change of clothes
- Pack essential things you think you would need until your suitcases are delivered to your cabin.

Remember that boarding a cruise ship is different than boarding a plane. You are not restricted by sizes of your toiletries, luggage weight, or carry on size – within reason.
ALWAYS CHECK THE CRUISE LINE POLICIES OF WHAT IS ALLOWED TO BRING ONBOARD.
