Congrats on booking your cruise!
Now the fun (and smart planning) begins.

Here’s your step-by-step checklist for what to do next — whether it’s your first cruise or your fiftieth:

Log Into the Cruise Line’s Website
- Create or log in to your cruise account (e.g., Carnival.com, Princess.com, etc.).
- Link your booking using your new reservation/booking number.
- Fill out your online check-in and complete any travel document information that you can.
- Add travel companions
- Tell your travel agent or notify the cruise line of any special needs info (e.g., CPAP, dietary needs)
- Purchase travel insurance
Plan Your Travel Logistics
- Flights: Start researching prices and set price alerts. Book flights to arrive early morning. I recommend that you arrive the day before embarkation to avoid stress.
- Transfers: Plan your shuttle transfers from the airport to the port.
- Hotel: Book a pre-cruise hotel if needed.
- Parking: If you are driving reserve parking at the port.

Check Your Documentation
- Passports or ID: Make sure your passport or ID is valid for at least 6 months past your cruise. If using a birth certificate, make sure it is available.
- Travel consent form: Required if you’re cruising with a minor who isn’t your child (like your niece).
- Vaccination & health forms: Check current requirements, even if they’re more relaxed now.
- Apply for any visa’s or ETA needed if taking a cruise beyond the Caribbean or other US ports.

Set Up Payments and Extras
- Link a credit/debit card or plan to use cash for your onboard account.
- Consider buying packages before boarding for pre-cruise discounts.
- Drink packages (Cheers or Soda)
- Wi-Fi
- Shore excursions
- Specialty dining
- Pre-pay gratuities (optional but simplifies your final bill).
Explore Onboard Options
- Download the cruise line’s app — e.g., Carnival HUB App — to:
- Book activities, spa, dining, and excursions
- Research deck plans to familiarize yourself with the ship
- Research theme nights and show schedules
- Join a Facebook cruise group for your sailing (search ship + sail date).

Start Planning What to Pack
