Why Cruise Quotes Change: Key Factors Explained

UNDERSTANDING CRUISE PRICING QUOTES
I want to give you a little understanding about getting a cruise price quote from a travel agent or even when you’re looking online to book your own.

When you request or see a personalized quote it is just that. Cruise pricing is not guaranteed and can change at any time. Quotes are based on real-time and the price may increase or sell out without notice until a deposit is placed.

Cruise fares can change at any time based on demand, availability, and promotions.

I have had cabins disappear (purchased by someone else) within minutes. I’ve also seen drastic price changes overnight. And I’ve seen promotions like OBC change or dropped.

What typically changes:

  • Pricing
  • Cabin availability
  • Special promotions

Because of this, the quote provided is only valid for a short period and cannot be guaranteed until a deposit is made.

So, if you’re just looking, kicking tires, or thinking about booking, you need to be aware of these possibilities happening. A travel agent can secure your booking by putting a “hold” on it for a short length of time, usually 24 to 48 hours with Carnival, while you are making a decision. There is no obligation for doing this and you DO NOT have to put any money down. All a hold requires is your legal name, birthdate, email and phone number. No financial information at all.

I never like to “pressure” my clients into making a decision immediately because it’s a big purchase and sometimes you need to check on flights, vacation time, etc. So that’s why I recommend putting a reservation on a short hold until you are comfortable with your decision.
Yes, there is the very rare occasion when the cruise line can take the cabin being held and sell it to someone else. I’ve never had it happen though.
