Top Specialty Dining Options on Carnival Cruises

Navigating the dining scene on a Carnival cruise is an adventure in itself. While the Main Dining Room and Lido Buffet are classic complimentary staples, the “Specialty Dining” options offer elevated menus, more intimate atmospheres, and unique flavors for a nominal fee.

Here is a breakdown of the top specialty dining options available across the fleet.

The Signature Experiences

These are the “must-do” spots for special occasions or foodies looking for the highest quality on board.

• Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse: The crown jewel of Carnival dining. It features premium cuts of USDA Prime beef, lamb chops, and grilled seafood.

• Vibe: Sophisticated and elegant.

• Cost: Approximately $49 per adult (includes appetizer, salad, entrée, side, and dessert).

• The Chef’s Table: The most exclusive experience on the ship. A small group of guests joins the Executive Chef for a private galley tour followed by a multi-course dinner of “off-menu” gourmet dishes.

• Cost: Ranges from $80–$99 per person depending on the ship.

• Rudi’s Seagrill: Created by master chef Rudi Sodamin, this venue focuses on creative seafood presentation (including his famous “food faces”).

• Cost: Approximately $49 per adult.

International Flavors

Carnival excels at bringing global cuisines to the high seas with specialized themed restaurants.

• Cucina del Capitano: A nod to the Italian heritage of many Carnival captains. It serves family-style Italian favorites like Grandma Rose’s meatballs and chicken parmigiana.

• Pro Tip: This venue is often complimentary for lunch (pasta bar), but has a cover charge for dinner (approx. $24 per adult).

• Ji Ji Asian Kitchen: A unique fusion of flavors from across Asia. The menu is designed for sharing, featuring dishes like Peking duck and kung pao chicken.

• Cost: Approximately $24 per adult.

• Bonsai Sushi & Teppanyaki: * Sushi: A-la-carte pricing for rolls, sashimi, and small plates.

• Teppanyaki: A dinner-and-a-show experience where chefs cook at your table. (Approx. $39–$45 per person).

Celebrity Partnerships

Carnival has partnered with big names to bring famous land-based flavors to their ships.

• Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse: Designed by Guy Fieri, this spot offers real-deal BBQ smoked right on board.

• Cost: While the outdoor “Smokehouse” is often free for lunch, the indoor “Brewhouse” usually features an a-la-carte dinner menu.

• **Emeril’s Bistro (1396/1397): Found on the Excel-class ships (Mardi Gras, Celebration, Jubilee), Emeril Lagasse brings New Orleans flair with crepes, jambalaya, and raw bar items.

• Cost: A-la-carte pricing.

Note: Menus and pricing can vary slightly by ship and itinerary. Consider pre-purchasing some of your dining choices before you sail on the Carnival website. It is always best to check the Carnival Hub App once you are on the ship’s Wi-Fi for the most current daily offerings.

Specialty dining on a cruise is an extra treat but is not something you “have” to do. There are many complimentary food choices and remember, the menu changes every night!
